Superintendent (Barbara Kavchok)
“My name is Barbara Kavchok. I’m an artist, business owner, and mother of 2. I’ve been a member of St Paul’s since 2010 and in charge of the Church School from 2018 to present. While I’m not a teacher by trade, I have a strong passion for the Church School. I believe we need to provide the resources for our youth to grow in the Orthodox Faith. My role is to support the teachers and parents to facilitate this growth for a thriving Church School.”
Principal (Zaneh Khuzam)
“My name is Zaneh Khuzam. I’m a mother of two and an urban educator for the past 18 years. I taught Church School for four years. It’s an honor to serve the children of St. Paul. I look forward to an enriching year!”
Teens (Sub Deacon Tim Lahr)
“My name is Sub. Dn. Tim. My grandfather, the late V. Rev. Fr. John Kahle started St. Paul’s mission in Emmaus in 1986. I have been a part of the Church ever since. I currently teach the high school class for Church School and am one of the advisors for Teen SOYO.”
Middle School (Khouria Nicole Damick)
“My name is Kh. Nicole Damick. I teach Middle School at St. Paul. I believe this age is when kids need to learn to take ownership of their faith and our class is spent reading and discussing the Gospel, answering all of their many questions, and encouraging them to work with their confessors to establish a habit of daily prayer. I teach them about importance of participation in the Sacraments and worship as a foundation for spiritual life.”
“My name is Melissa (Perpetua) Moritz . I’m a Teacher’s Aide at St. John Chrysostom Academy and a Freelance Editor. I love reading, hiking, exploring, and working with children. I’m very excited to be teaching the younger elementary school class at St Paul this year!”
Elementary 2 (Nathan Friend)
“My name is Nathan Friend. I’m married with four children. I was a professor at the University for more than 20 years. I’m now a middle school teacher for humanities at a charter school. I love teaching and I love children, and I’m looking forward to taking our 8, 9, and 10 year old’s through the great feasts of the church, and explaining their meaning through words and art.
Pre School (Sarah Friend)
“My name is Sarah Friend. I’m a mother of three, and bonus mom to an emerging adult. I’m a non-profit fundraising professional at a Christian org and have been for almost 15 years. I have a background in music education for toddlers and preschoolers and am looking forward to having fun with our little ones this year!”
