Church School

Our Church School offers a comprehensive faith-based education for children and teens, from Pre-School through High School. We are dedicated to nurturing our parish's youth in the teachings of the Orthodox faith.

Join us in fostering spiritual growth and understanding in a welcoming and supportive environment after Divine Liturgy on Sundays at 10:30 AM.

Barbara Kavchok | Superintendent

I’m Barbara Kavchok—an Artist, Business Owner, wife and  proud mother of two. I’ve been a member of St. Paul’s since 2010 and have had the honor of overseeing our Church School since 2018. While I’m not a professional educator by trade, my passion for our Church School runs deep. I'm dedicated to providing the necessary resources to help our youth flourish in the Orthodox Faith. My role involves supporting both our teachers and parents to ensure a thriving and enriching environment for our students.

Zaneh Khuzam | Principal:

I’m Zaneh Khuzam— wife and proud mother of two and an Urban Educator with 18 years of experience. I've had the privilege of teaching Church School for 4 years. It's truly an honor to serve the children of St. Paul. I'm excited about the enriching year ahead!

Melissa Moritz | Elementary 1

I’m Melissa (Perpetua) Moritz — wife and proud mother of one child. I work as a Teacher's Aide at St. John Chrysostom Academy and Freelance Editor. My passions include reading, hiking, exploring, and working with children. I’m thrilled to be teaching the students at St. Paul this year. I look forward to a wonderful and engaging experience with them!

Nathan Friend | Elementary 2

I’m Nathan Friend — husband and father of four children. After over 20 years as a professor at the University, I now teach middle school humanities at a Charter school, holding a Master of Arts in Teaching. My passion for Christ, teaching, and working with children has driven me to serve as a church school teacher for several years. This year, I'm excited to teach the 2nd to 4th grade class and look forward to a wonderful and enriching experience with the students!

Sarah Friend | Middle School

I'm Sarah Friend  — wife, mother of three children, and bonus mom to an emerging adult. For 15 years, I'm a Non- Profit Fundraising Professional at a Christian organization. I have a background in Music Education for toddlers and preschoolers. I'm looking forward to having fun with students this year!

Sub Deacon Tim Lahr | High School

I'm Tim Lahr — husband and father of three children. My grandfather, the late V. Rev. Fr. John Kahle, founded St. Paul’s mission in Emmaus, PA in 1986, I've been a part of St. Paul ever since. Currently, I teach the High School Church School class and advise the Teen SOYO.
