Worship in the Orthodox Church is the heart of the spiritual life. It is in worship that we commune directly and most intensely with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the Holy Trinity, the one God. The holy fathers of the Orthodox Church tell us that we rise up to God on the two wings of corporate and private prayer. We need both, or else we will spiritually flop around like a wounded bird.
In the Orthodox Christian faith, worship is mystical, embracing every part of what it means to be human, soul, mind and body, including all five senses. Christians have worshiped in this manner for twenty centuries, and it is in worship that they become one with God.
